The Post American Presidency- Front Page Magazine Interview
"Frontpage Interview’s guest today is Pamela Geller, founder, editor and publisher of the popular and award-winning weblog AtlasShrugs.com. She has won acclaim for her interviews with internationally renowned figures, including John Bolton, Geert Wilders, Bat Ye’or, Natan Sharansky, and many others, and has broken numerous important stories — notably the questionable sources of some of the financing of the Obama campaign. Her op-eds have been published in The Washington Times, The American Thinker, Israel National News, Frontpage Magazine, World Net Daily, and New Media Journal, among other publications. She is the co-author (with Robert Spencer) of The Post-American Presidency: The Obama Administration’s War on America [1] (forward by Ambassador John Bolton) — just released on July 27.
FP: Pamela Geller, welcome to Frontpage Interview.
Tell us about your new book and what you have discovered about Obama’s war on America.
Geller: Thanks Jamie.
The Post-American Presidency: The Obama Administration’s War On America is the product of three years of research I’ve done on Barack Obama: his socialist internationalism, his ties to America-haters and anti-Semites, his race-baiting, and more. As president, Obama is presiding over America’s decline, and is in many important ways the apostle of that decline. He is betraying Israel; warring against free speech; refusing to take real steps to stop Iran’s nuclear program, despite the many genocidal statements Ahmadinejad has made against Israel, and the open contempt the mullahs have shown for his efforts to reach out to them.
Obama is turning allies into enemies and enemies into allies; submitting the U.S. to international law; bankrupting us with socialist schemes both domestically and internationally; bypassing the democratic process and the system of checks and balances by governing through a proliferation of “czars”; and using global warming as a pretext to redistribute wealth from the First World to the Third World...." Michelle Malkin: Rangel's enablers miss the voter outrage
"House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., is the world's worst cleaning lady. How has she fulfilled her vaunted promise to "drain the swamp" and preside over the "most ethical Congress in history"?
By shrugging her shoulders, downplaying the gravity of myriad ethics charges against corruptocrat New York Democratic Rep. Charlie Rangel and waiting for the "political chips" to "fall where they may." Imagine a custodial service that fixed toilet clogs by letting the overflowing waste and polluted waters "fall where they may."
At a press conference to preempt the bipartisan House ethics panel's announcement of 13 ethics and federal regulation charges against Rangel on Thursday afternoon, Pelosi claimed to take "great pride" in her swamp-draining record. Unblinkingly, she cited the House trial against Rangel as proof that the "process" is working.
But that beleaguered panel has been pathetically understaffed, has dragged its feet for two years on the Rangel case and has administered more halfhearted wrist-slaps than all the pushover parents on a season of "Nanny 911" "

McConnell gets better reviews than Bunning or Obama, cn|2 Poll shows
"A majority of likely Kentucky voters approve of the job being done by U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell, the Senate Republican leader, but aren’t as pleased with the state’s junior senator, Jim Bunning, or President Barack Obama, the cn|2 Poll shows.
McConnell fared best with an approval rating of 53.1% compared to Bunning’s 43.7%. As for Obama, a higher percentage said they strongly disapproved of his performance (42.2%) than the total of those who said they somewhat or strongly approved (40.9%).
Those numbers were part of the results of the first cn|2 Poll, a survey taken of 803 likely voters between July 19 and July 22. Braun Research — a Princeton, New Jersey-based firm – conducted the poll, which has a margin of error of 3.46 percentage points. " from CN|2 Politics

ObamaCare Funds Abortion
We must stop this immoral offense against human life and against American taxpayers.”
Washington, DC - U.S. Congressman Mike Pence, Chairman of the House Republican Conference, released the following statement today in response to the Obama Administration spending $160 million on a “high risk” insurance program that will pay for abortions:
“It is morally wrong to end an unborn human life by abortion. It is also reprehensible to take taxpayer dollars from millions of pro-life Americans and use them to pay for abortions.
“President Obama promised the American people that his health care law would not allow federal funding of abortion. But according to an investigation by the National Right to Life Committee, this allocation for Pennsylvania’s high risk pool will break the president’s promise by using taxpayer dollars to subsidize coverage of nearly any kind of abortion.
“We must stop this immoral offense against human life and against American taxpayers. Congress should act quickly on critical legislation by Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ) and Rep. Joe Pitts (R-PA) to stop the administration from using ObamaCare to fund abortions. The best long-term solution, and the one that I remain committed to, is the total repeal of ObamaCare.”

"The first Republican gubernatorial ticket for 2011 — and one with the backing of tea party activists — could be announced by the end of this week and perhaps as soon as Tuesday, key conservatives confirmed to cn|2 Politics on Monday night.
Conservative radio show host Leland Conway said he has been put on notice that a slate could be announced on his afternoon radio show on Lexington’s WLAP-630 AM “as early as tomorrow.”
Conway said he wasn’t at liberty to talk about who might be on the ticket. But he eliminated the possibility that he might be a candidate in 2011.

Tom Tancredo at Ken Buck rally
Buck was hosting a hot dog picnic with Tea Party conservative Sen. Jim DeMint of South Carolina, in City of Cuernavaca Park downtown. The event was supposed to rally Tea Party supporters around Buck, with DeMint holding a fundraiser on Buck’s behalf later in the day.
Tancredo took the microphone after Buck and DeMint made some remarks to two hundred or so supporters. The controversial former U.S. representative from the south suburbs launched into a stemwinder of a list of threats against the U.S. throughout history, from the Great Depression to terrorism to various wars. Then came this:
“I truly believe this . . . I believe this with all my heart, that the greatest threat to the United States today, the greatest threat to our liberty, the greatest threat to the Constitution, the greatest threat to our way of life, everything we believe in, the greatest threat to the country put together by the Founding Fathers, is the guy who is in the White House today.”

"President Barack Obama and his team are trying to sell Americans on an economic recovery this summer, but the economy is stubbornly refusing to cooperate.
Obama and his Cabinet officials will fan out across the country over the next few days to spread the message to voters about how effective their $787 billion recovery plan has been, an effort they’re calling “recovery summer.”
The administration’s message has run into several negative economic headwinds that have led to worries the economy is at risk of entering a double-dip recession, not a recovery.''

First faceoff reveals campaign playbook for Conway, Paul
"In the first face to face meeting since the primary of Kentucky's U.S. Senate candidates, both tried to paint the other as out of step with Kentucky.
The main themes of the fall campaign are now established. Republican Rand Paul says he's the only candidate who will challenge the way Washington works. Democrat Jack Conway says though some changes are needed, government is not necessarily the problem.
Speaking at the joint session of the Kentucky County Judge Executives Association and Kentucky Municipal Clerks Association, each candidate strained to define both his own views and the views of his opponent.
"(Conway) will have to distance himself from this president and his party if he wishes to have any chance in Kentucky," Paul said, "We'll see if he can do this and do this in a believable way."

Kentucky Freedom Festival Saturday July 10th
About: We are now just over three weeks away and counting for what promises to be the greatest grassroots gathering that the Commonwealth of Kentucky has ever seen. Buses are being chartered already from both the Louisville and Cincinnati areas. The collaboration across organizations has been what you might expect from like-minded “We the People” types: smooth, eager and focused on educating, motivating and mobilizing conservative Kentuckians to have a powerful voice in determing the direction of America. We’ll converge on the epicenter of the political landscape in KY: The “Great Lawn” at the Capitol, in Frankfort, from 5pm-8pm. In the heart of of summer, we’ll have ample cold water available at a nominal cost. But do bring your own lawn chair!
Speakers: This is not a “candidate’s forum,” though your conservative candidates for both the US Senate and US Congress are slated to speak. We DO want you to get to know them better and help them take your concerns to Washington to help move our federal government toward the Constitution. This is instead a celebration of FREEDOM and those ingredients that made America great and can restore her to greatness once again. To that end, a number of grassroots speakers have been invited and will speak on topics such as Immigration Reform, Healthcare, Education, Energy Independence, Terrorism, the Founders and the Constitution itself. Those confirmed to speak (to date) include

Where In The World Is Jack Conway These Days? from Page One
"One has to wonder why Jack Conway has dropped off the face of the earth during such a contentious U.S. Senate race. There’s the occasional statement from Allison Haley. The occasional targeted press release. An occasional visit around the state with a select few in a private gathering. The occasional effort by a staffer to get a national blog to say something.
But what else is there? There’s no coordinated press strategy, outside of dozens of ignored calls from major media outlets. There’s been no effort to develop a rapport with the Kentucky blogosphere and net/nutroots that drive the media (In fact, there’s been a noticed effort of Conway folks working to discredit and undermine nearly everyone). ...." White House Backs Kenyan Constitution Allowing Abortion
"The Obama administration is offering incentives to Kenya to approve a controversial new constitution that would legalize abortion for the first time, promising that passage will "allow money to flow" into the nation's coffers, including U.S. aid.
But there's a hitch to that pledge. A federal law known as the Siljander Amendment passed in 2006 makes it illegal for the U.S. government to lobby on abortion in other countries -- and three U.S. lawmakers say they want a federal investigation into the promises made by the administration."

Conway- 51/35 (47/36)

NASA's new mission: Building ties to Muslim world
"When I became the NASA administrator, [Obama] charged me with three things," NASA head Charles Bolden said in a recent interview with the Middle Eastern news network al-Jazeera. "One, he wanted me to help re-inspire children to want to get into science and math; he wanted me to expand our international relationships; and third, and perhaps foremost, he wanted me to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science, math, and engineering."
From moon landings to promoting self-esteem: It would be difficult to imagine a more dramatic shift in focus for an agency famous for reaching the heavens. Bolden's words left supporters of space exploration astonished. "Everyone had the same impression: Is this what he is spending his time on?" says a Republican Hill aide who tracks the space program. "A lot of people are very upset about it."

What is Tarp III?
On May 13, 2010, Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) introduced H.R. 5297, TARP III. The bill is being promoted as necessary to increase the availability of credit for small businesses. TARP III would create a $30 billion lending fund and authorize the Treasury Secretary to make capital investments in banks with less than $10 billion in assets. Those banks would be charged dividends or interest of 5 percent yearly. Those rates would be reduced based on the bank's level of small business lending. TARP III would also authorize the appropriation of $2 billion to assist states with funding their small business lending and guarantee programs. However, the bill would deepen the nation's debt problems and duplicate the goal of the original $700 billion TARP program. With nearly 10 percent unemployment, the economic leadership of congressional Democrats has proven to be a failure. TARP III and its $32 billion price tag would not be any differentRead More: TARPIII

Senate Bill More Than Doubles Tax Rate on
Pensions, Charities, and Colleges
"The Senate this week is taking up the tax extenders package. According to the Congressional Budget Office, it raises net taxes by $47.5 billion. Like its House counterpart, this bill is a clear violation of the Taxpayer Protection Pledge. ATR will be keyvoting against this bill in our annual Congressional scorecard.
One provision that's getting a lot of notice is the tax hike on pensions, charities, and colleges (the "carried interest" tax hike). We wrote some background on this for the House bill.
The Senate version slightly changes the tax hike involved. Under the Senate bill, a portion of capital gains from some investment partnership profits will be taxed as ordinary income. What portion depends on the year, and whether the asset in question was held for at least seven years. Here's the percentage of capital gain which will be wrongly treated as ordinary income:"

Pence Denounces Democrat's Latest National Energy Tax
U.S. Congressman Mike Pence, Chairman of the House Republican Conference and the American Energy Solutions Group, released the following statement today after Senate Democrats introduced their latest version of climate legislation:
"In Indiana and across this nation, Americans want Congress to focus on policies that will create jobs. Instead, Democrats are continuing to push a job-killing national energy tax that will cap growth and trade jobs. This measure will force Americans to pay more for essentials like gas and electricity and force businesses to lay off workers; a point recently confirmed by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, which said a cap-and-tax system will lead to higher unemployment and lower wages. This bill is essentially an economic declaration of war on middle America.
"What the American people need is an environmentally-responsible all-of-the-above energy plan that develops American resources, creates jobs, and promotes energy independence. House Republicans continue to offer that plan." Pence Denounces Democrat's Latest National Energy Tax

What Bob Bennett's defeat means
"Here’s what Bob Bennett’s loss does not mean — conservatives have not won a huge victory. Yes, it was great. But it was one battle in a larger war of disentangling relationships. If Bob Bennett is replaced by Tim Bridgewater, a rent seeker disguised as a businessman, conservatives will not have advanced on the battlefield.
It is not, as some like to say, a purge. It never has been. It is an insurrection and a necessary fight. For too long conservatives have given their money and votes to Republicans who, every election year, whip out a red cloth with the word “judges” written on one side and “abortion” written on the other and wave it in front of the grassroots.
But the grassroots have realized they’ve been had. They were disappointed in Harriet Miers. They were disappointed in immigration. But the handling of the financial mess in 2008 broke their hearts. Compounding that is the Senate Republicans going around the country defending the status quo and choosing sides with a bunch of moderates.
Conservatives have nothing else to do but fight back, in defense of their values. And they are doing so today – because despite what the elites in Washington believe, conservatism is not just a set of talking points. It is not what you say at rallies to take money from the pockets of conservative Americans. It is not what other people tell you to say when you’re in public, and laugh about when you’re in private.
Conservatism is a philosophy of the proper role of government rooted firmly in the values free people across the world have believed in for centuries, and Americans have fought and died to defend. And it is not for sale...." from RedState.com

Rand Paul best choice to put Republicans on new path
"This could be a seminal year for the Republican Party, in Kentucky and around the nation. The rise of the Tea Party movement has produced a tug of war for the GOP's soul, a contest that already has prompted Florida Gov. Charlie Crist to drop his R label and launch an independent campaign for a U.S. Senate seat.
Tugging from one side are the establishment Republicans who have guided the party in recent years. Pulling in the opposite direction are those who think the party has strayed from its roots on such issues as deficit spending and the size and reach of the federal government.
Kentucky's Republican primary for the seat being vacated by U.S. Sen. Jim Bunning offers a perfect example of this struggle

James Dobson Endorses Rand Paul
Have you ever made an embarrassing mistake? I did just that last week. I was given misleading information about the candidacy of Dr. Rand Paul, who is running in the Republican Primary for the U.S. Senate. Senior members of the GOP told me Dr. Paul is pro-choice and that he opposes many conservative perspectives, so I endorsed his opponent.
But now I've received further information from OB/GYN's in Kentucky whom I trust, and from interviewing the candidate himself.
I now know that he is avidly pro life. He believes that life begins at conception.
He opposes earmarking and supports Israel. He identifies with the Tea Party movement and believes in home schooling. Sounds like my kind of man.

The House Of Representatives GOP New Media Challenge!
The House Of Representatives GOP New Media Challenge!
In an attempt to get in on all that social networking has to offer, House Republicans are staging their first Congressional New Media Challenge, a competition modeled after NCAA March Madness in which representatives vie for the largest number of Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube followers. Round one, on Twitter, begins today. Time to fire up the Congressional Blackberries!Twitter New Media challengeThe competition is in anticipation of the fall midterm elections, forcing representatives to become more active online and engage more directly with constituents. The brainchild of Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA), vice chair of the group, the idea is to get representatives preemptively campaigning by making an effort to engage with new media, and while they’re at it get voters excited about their representatives through interacting online. Unfortunately, not all House Republicans are participating– noticeably absent is web-friendly Texas Congressman Ron Paul– but here’s the list of competitors on Twitter, and our top five picks to take the title (and an as-yet-determined prize):
