Despite overwhelming public dislike of the bill, we were told that D.C. knows best, and there was nothing to worry about, and we’d be better off swallowing the pill called Obamacare; so, in defiance of the will of the people, the President and his party rammed through this mother of all unfunded mandates. Nancy Pelosi said Congress had to pass the bill so that Americans could “find out what is in it.” We found out that it’s even worse than we feared.

As president, Obama is presiding over America’s decline, and is in many important ways the apostle of that decline. McConnell gets better reviews than Bunning or Obama, cn|2 Poll shows

"A majority of likely Kentucky voters approve of the job being done by U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell, the Senate Republican leader, but aren’t as pleased with the state’s junior senator, Jim Bunning, or President Barack Obama, the cn|2 Poll shows.

McConnell fared best with an approval rating of 53.1% compared to Bunning’s 43.7%. As for Obama, a higher percentage said they strongly disapproved of his performance (42.2%) than the total of those who said they somewhat or strongly approved (40.9%).

Those numbers were part of the results of the first cn|2 Poll, a survey taken of 803 likely voters between July 19 and July 22. Braun Research — a Princeton, New Jersey-based firm – conducted the poll, which has a margin of error of 3.46 percentage points. " from CN|2 Politics

Conservative radio show host Leland Conway said he has been put on notice that a slate could be announced on his afternoon radio show on Lexington’s WLAP-630 AM “as early as tomorrow.”

Conway said he wasn’t at liberty to talk about who might be on the ticket. But he eliminated the possibility that he might be a candidate in 2011.

Buck was hosting a hot dog picnic with Tea Party conservative Sen. Jim DeMint of South Carolina, in City of Cuernavaca Park downtown. The event was supposed to rally Tea Party supporters around Buck, with DeMint holding a fundraiser on Buck’s behalf later in the day.

Tancredo took the microphone after Buck and DeMint made some remarks to two hundred or so supporters. The controversial former U.S. representative from the south suburbs launched into a stemwinder of a list of threats against the U.S. throughout history, from the Great Depression to terrorism to various wars. Then came this:

The main themes of the fall campaign are now established. Republican Rand Paul says he's the only candidate who will challenge the way Washington works. Democrat Jack Conway says though some changes are needed, government is not necessarily the problem.

Speaking at the joint session of the Kentucky County Judge Executives Association and Kentucky Municipal Clerks Association, each candidate strained to define both his own views and the views of his opponent.

"(Conway) will have to distance himself from this president and his party if he wishes to have any chance in Kentucky," Paul said, "We'll see if he can do this and do this in a believable way."

The NRCC really needs to send some money Lally's way. Notwithstanding the Democrats' voter registration advantage, and the fact that he's a nice guy, Yarmuth is simply too liberal for Kentucky. On health care, for example, Yarmuth has long championed a single-payer system. Nancy Pelosi tapped Yarmuth to help with "messaging."

If Lally can get enough money to inform Kentuckians of how far left Yarmuth is, this can be a Republican pick-up. The NRCC needs to help Lally as well as Barr."
