Lally For Congress- Reaction to no Budget
"Since the current budget rules were put into place in 1974, the House has never failed to pass an annual budget resolution…. until now. With our nation reeling from 10 percent unemployment, 14.3 trillion in debt, and a 33 percent drop in new home sales, Congressman Yarmuth and the Pelosi Congress deliver another blow to the economic security of taxpayers and residents in Louisville, Kentucky. He comes back to the district with no budget, no path to reduce the deficit and tired excuses about the former administration. This kind of procedural incompetence can no longer be tolerated..."

Independent Voters Favor GOP in 2010 Election Tracking
"By an average 10 percentage-point margin since March, 45% to 35%, independent registered voters have consistently preferred the Republican to the Democrat when asked which congressional candidate they would vote for in their district. Independents' preference for Republicans has been generally consistent over this time, with the gap in favor of Republicans increasing slightly since March, from 8 to 12 points...." Gallup

White House Backs Kenyan Constitution Allowing Abortion
"The Obama administration is offering incentives to Kenya to approve a controversial new constitution that would legalize abortion for the first time, promising that passage will "allow money to flow" into the nation's coffers, including U.S. aid.
But there's a hitch to that pledge. A federal law known as the Siljander Amendment passed in 2006 makes it illegal for the U.S. government to lobby on abortion in other countries -- and three U.S. lawmakers say they want a federal investigation into the promises made by the administration."

The Rasmussen trend in the KY Senate race
"You never can be too sure with Rasmussen, but if their numbers are legit over the past two months, there is a definite swing happening in the Senate race in terms of the favorables on Rand Paul and Jack Conway. Here are the numbers:
July Favorable/Unfavorable (May)
Paul- 55/38 (56/31)
Conway- 51/35 (47/36)
As you can see, Paul has taken a net hit of 8 points, while Conway is up 5 points. If you look as far back as April, Conway was 44/39, so that's +11 for him..." Barefoot and Progressive
NASA's new mission: Building ties to Muslim world
"When I became the NASA administrator, [Obama] charged me with three things," NASA head Charles Bolden said in a recent interview with the Middle Eastern news network al-Jazeera. "One, he wanted me to help re-inspire children to want to get into science and math; he wanted me to expand our international relationships; and third, and perhaps foremost, he wanted me to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science, math, and engineering."
From moon landings to promoting self-esteem: It would be difficult to imagine a more dramatic shift in focus for an agency famous for reaching the heavens. Bolden's words left supporters of space exploration astonished. "Everyone had the same impression: Is this what he is spending his time on?" says a Republican Hill aide who tracks the space program. "A lot of people are very upset about it."
