Palin Unleashes New attack against Obama on Coal

Palin Unleashes New Attack against Obama on Coal
"Seizing on a newly released audio tape picked up by the Drudge Report, Sarah Palin took the opportunity here in coal country to accuse Barack Obama of “talking about bankrupting the coal industry.”

“He said that, sure, if the industry wants to build coal-fired power plants, then they can go ahead and try, he says, but they can do it only in a way that will bankrupt the coal industry, and he's comfortable letting that happen,” Palin said. “And you got to listen to the tape.”

The audiotape Palin was referring to was recorded by the San Francisco Chronicle in a Jan. 17 interview."

Obama: We’ll bankrupt any new coal plants

Obama: We'll bankrupt any new coal plants

"So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can; it’s just that it will bankrupt them because they’re going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted.

That will also generate billions of dollars that we can invest in solar, wind, biodiesel and other alternative energy approaches.

The only thing I’ve said with respect to coal, I haven’t been some coal booster. What I have said is that for us to take coal off the table as a ideological matter as opposed to saying if technology allows us to use coal in a clean way, we should pursue it.

So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can.

It’s just that it will bankrupt them."

from HotAir.com

"Yesterday, we looked at Obama’s notions of government sending “price signals” to change behavior that it finds objectionable, especially on energy. This is the way Obama intends to do it. Coal provides 49% of domestic electrical power, and any rise in the cost of producing that energy will raise its cost to consumers and reduce the amount produced.

This comes as no great shock, pun intended. Obama already called for a 15% reduction in demand for electricity — at the same time he and his allies want transportation to switch from gasoline to electricity. Obama never explained this particular contradiction. How does one switch tens of millions of vehicles from gasoline to electricity while not Increasing demand, let alone by cutting it 15%? And when trying to break free from a recession, the nation will need greater production in energy, not a reduction.

The coal-based economics of Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio, and other states will be the first to feel this new policy. Let’s hope the voters there pay attention."

McConnell: We're "not leaving" until the bailout is passed

"Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said the Senate still intends to move ahead -- although he doesn't know when.

"We're not leaving town until this is fixed," he just told reporters.

McConnell declined to point fingers over the failure of the bailout bill in the House Monday afternoon.

Instead, McConnell pleaded for quick action.

“Let’s fix the problem instead of fixing blame,” McConnell said.

McConnell said today’s record-breaking losses on Wall Street only underscore the need for immediate action.

Blocking the Path to 9/11

Blocking the Path to 9/11

Now the imbroglio has been revived for a direct-to-video documentary called
"Blocking 'The Path to 9/11'," produced by right-wing rabble-rouser David Bossie
and directed by former radio host John Ziegler. On its surface, the new video is
a fascinating piece of behind-the-scenes investigative work. But, like the
original telefilm and its quashing by the Clinton camp, it is not without its
own political intrigue. Indeed, "Blocking 'The Path to 9/11'" raises even more
questions and adds its own set of disconnected dots to this broadcasting
dilemma. The new documentary, currently available for sale on its website, will soon be offered at
other locations, with plans also calling for select theatrical screenings in
Southern California to coincide with the seventh anniversary of the Sept. 11
attacks next month. Last week, the film’s worldwide premiere at the Skirball

Louisville Housing probe by State Auditor

Louisville Housing probe continues

"By our count, there are now four official investigations or reviews into the department's finances and/or its management:

The annual audit of Metro government by Strothman & Co.

A review by city auditor Mike Norman, ordered by Mayor Jerry Abramson.

An investigation by the Louisville Police Department's Public Integrity Unit to determine the merit of allegations made about the department.

And the state auditor's office, which will launch its independent study on Monday.

(A fifth, HUD's annual audit, starts in September.)

In announcing her office's foray into this investigatory mosh pit, which is unprecedented in recent city history, state Auditor Crit Luallen cited headlines about the department, but also pointed to continuing concerns raised in department audits since 2004.

City officials say they welcome scrutiny. They promise full cooperation. They tout transparency. They say they want best practices in place....." A multi probe of Louisville Housing from the Courier-Journal

Obama’s Scandal is Bigger than Edwards’

Obama’s Scandal is Bigger than Edwards’
From Accuracy in Media author Cliff Kincaid:

"Obama’s communist connection, which he failed to disclose in his 1995 book,
Dreams From My Father, by referring to Davis only as “Frank” and ignoring his
communist affiliation, is a far more serious scandal than an Edwards “love
child"

Controversy over the Obama-Davis relationship is growing, at least in the
conservative-oriented media. Rush Limbaugh, who last Thursday commented
on our exposure of the dishonest Associated Press story about Davis, put a link
to the
AIM column
on this matter on his website.
Also heavily drawing on our
material, Investor’s Business Daily published an August 5
editorial
, “Young Obama’s Red Mentor.” The paper noted that the “cryptic
references” in Obama’s book to this communist mentor “were―and still
are―designed to protect Obama’s background from the scrutiny it deserves.”..."Obama's Scandal

Multi- Millionaire Bruce Lunsford

Disguise: Lunsford Campaign Themes Don't Square With Persona from the Paducah Sun

"The true comprehensive plan for energy independence is the one McConnell
champions day after day in the Senate chamber. It includes, like Lunsford's
plan, clean-coal technology, lifting the ban on developing vast shale oil
deposits and alternative/renewable forms of energy. But unlike Lunsford,
McConnell also calls for increasing nuclear power, the cleanest, most economical source of energy.

And he calls for lifting the ban on offshore drilling and
tapping ANWR's vast reserves of recoverable oil
.
Unfortunately, Majority Leader Harry Reid thwarts every serious attempt to decrease American dependence on foreign oil. Increasing domestic supply is anathema to Democrats in Congress, who are under the thumb of the environmental lobby. Multi-millionaire Bruce is disguised as a regular Joe. He's apparently intimidated by Kentucky's two largest newspapers, with their reliably liberal editorial pages, hoping they won't pick on him for being rich as long as he rails against others in his tax bracket. It's an unbecoming role for Lunsford. ...." Disguise Lunsford

Pelosi, Pickens plan to pick your pocket

Pelosi, Pickens plan to pick your pocket
"TV commercials touting a new clean energy strategy and an environmental ballot measure in California have one thing in common: If they succeed, they'll make investors – from "big oil" to the U.S. Capitol – a lot of money.
The ads champion Texas oil billionaire T. Boone Pickens' "Pickens Plan" to move the U.S. from foreign oil dependence to domestically produced wind power and natural gas fuel for automobiles. The plan is touted as a cleaner, more eco-friendly alternative to our current reliance on coal power and gasoline.
The ballot initiative is California's Proposition 10, known as the California Renewable Energy and Clean Alternative Fuel Act, which would spend $5 billion in California bond money – $10 billion by the time the interest is paid, according to the L.A. Times – to promote natural gas as an cleaner alternative for automobile and truck fuel.
Not surprisingly, the nation's largest provider of natural gas for transportation, Clean Energy Fuels Corporation, or CLNE, has a great deal to gain from the adoption of Pickens' fuel strategy and the passage of Proposition 10. In fact, according to the California Secretary of State website, CLNE has contributed $3,247,250 to supporting Proposition 10's passage.
CLNE, however, was formerly known as Pickens Fuel after its primary investor, T. Boone Pickens.
While Pickens touts a plan in the name of environmentalism that will also line his company's pockets, a #dontgo investigation has revealed that another environmental champion and backer of Proposition 10 has also invested in CLNE: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California.
According to the investigation, Pelosi purchased $50,000-$100,000 in CLNE stock on May 25, 2007, apparently on its initial public offering.
Now the House speaker stands to make a large profit on her reported 22,000 shares of CLNE if she and other public figures can persuade the people of California to vote for Proposition 10 in the name of renewable energy and clean, alternative fuels. from : World Net Daily

Infanticide Revisited, Obama's position

"Barack Obama wants to move closer to Catholics, or more accurately, wants Catholics to move closer to him. Despite a track record of abandoning all limits for on-demand abortion, Obama plans to argue that he actually is a moderate on the topic. He has repudiated criticism for his vote on an Illinois bill that would have required practitioners to give normal medical attention to infants born alive during an attempted abortion by claiming that it lacked a pre-birth neutrality clause that was included in a bill adopted unanimously by the US Congress in 2002.

The National Right to Life Committee now claims that Obama lied about the bill in order to provide cover for his support of infanticide:......" Infanticide Revisited

Top 10 reasons Obama voted against the Illinois Born Alive Infant Protection Act

Top 10 Reasons Obama Voted against the Illinois Born Alive Infant Protection Act
...This post is from Jill Stanek at Illinois Review

"

Here are the top 10 reasons Barack Obama has variously stated why he voted against Illinois' Born Alive Infant Protection Act when state senator.

10. Babies who survive their abortions are not protected by the Equal Protection Clause of the Constitution. Speaking against the Born Alive Infant Protection Act on the IL Senate floor on March 30, 2001, Obama, the sole verbal opponent to the bill stated:

... I just want to suggest... that this is probably not going to survive constitutional scrutiny.

"Number one, whenever we define a previable fetus as a person that is protected by the equal protection clause or the other elements in the Constitution, what we're really saying is, in fact, that they are persons that are entitled to the kinds of protections that would be provided to a - child, a nine-month-old - child that was delivered to term. That determination then, essentially, if it was accepted by a court, would forbid abortions to take place.

I mean, it - it would essentially bar abortions, because the equal protection clause does not allow somebody to kill a child, and if this is a child, then this would be an antiabortion statute. For that purpose, I think it would probably be found unconstitutional...."

"Once again, Steve Beshear has left Kentuckians scratching their heads and wondering “what was our Governor thinking?” In case you missed it, the Associated Press is reporting that Gov. In the article, Sen. Elizabeth Tori (R-Radcliff), whose district covers Fort Knox, was right on with her statement that “any soldier stationed in Kentucky should be honored by the state if they're killed in action” and that “the governor, as well as everyone in our nation, owes them a debt.” State Rep. Tim Moore (R-Elizabethtown), who served in Afghanistan, was also appalled – calling the Governor’s decision “disgraceful.” Moore noted in the AP article that Beshear is ignoring the fact that “residents around Fort Knox consider soldiers part of their community” (AP, 7/24/08). ........." from Kentucky GOP

"Inspired, perhaps, by Newt Gingrich’s “Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less” petition, one group -- led by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky) -- is trying to do something about the price of gasoline right now.
McConnell -- joined by 42 Senate Republicans -- introduced the “Gas Price Reduction Act of 2008” on June 26. The bill -- which Reid has so far refused a vote -- would open up 14 billion barrels of oil in the Outer Continental Shelf to oil drilling at the option of the states.

Drill Now, Drill Here, Pay Less

"American Solutions for Winning the Future announced today that more than half a million Americans have now signed a petition urging Congress to immediately start drilling for oil domestically to lower gas prices. The petition is part of the “Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less” campaign American Solutions launched a few weeks ago.

The petition reads:

“We, therefore, the undersigned citizens of the United States, petition the U.S. Congress to act immediately to lower gasoline prices (and diesel and other fuel prices) by authorizing the exploration of proven energy reserves to reduce our dependence on foreign energy sources from unstable countries.”

According to American Solutions’ new research data, 81% of the American people support the U.S. using more of its own domestic energy resources, including the oil and coal already here, to combat the rising cost of energy and reduce dependence on foreign energy sources. This belief is so widespread it is supported by a majority of Democrats, Republicans, and independents.

“Hard-working American families are struggling to pay the soaring prices for gas, diesel, food, electricity, and everything else affected by the high price of oil,” said Dave Ryan, American Solutions Executive Director. “The voices of more than half a million Americans are united in demanding that Congress offer real solutions to our energy challenges, starting with taking immediate action to drill here and drill now.”

Obama most pro abortion presidential candidate ever...

"Barack Obama is the most pro-abortion presidential candidate ever. He is so pro-abortion that he refused as an Illinois state senator to support legislation to protect babies who survived late-term abortions because he did not want to concede -- as he explained in a cold-blooded speech on the Illinois Senate floor -- that these babies, fully outside their mothers' wombs, with their hearts beating and lungs heaving, were in fact "persons." "Persons," of course, are guaranteed equal protection of the law under the 14th Amendment. In 2004, U.S. Senate-candidate Obama mischaracterized his opposition to this legislation. Now, as a presidential frontrunner, he should be held accountable for what he actually said and did about the Born Alive Infants Bill. State and federal versions of this bill became an issue earlier this decade because of "induced labor abortion." Sen. Mitch McConnell responds to CJ editorial

Sen Mitch McConnell responds to the CJ (Courier Journal) editorial:

Republican legislative victories 2007
"Incidentally, according to McConnell, the only truly bipartisan piece of legislation where genuine compromise was part of the equation was ethics reform, signed into law in September. But even Democrats, who heralded the landmark reforms, took advantage of the loopholes in the bill to insert about 300 air dropped earmarks which had not been taken up by either the House or Senate on the floor or as part of a vote. ..."
