Iowa’s Largest Manufacturing Employer Smacked by Obamacare

“Deere & Company, Iowa’s largest manufacturing employer, said in a statement this morning that the recently-passed health care legislation will cost the company $150 million after tax this year.”

“[Spokesman Ken] Golden said Deere and other companies warned congress in a letter last December that the imposition of a tax on the prescription costs would force publicly-traded corporations like Deere to publicly account for the extra costs.”

“Deere employs about 12,000 workers in plants at Waterloo, Ankeny, Ottumwa, Davenport and Dubuque and at its credit operations in Johnston.”

Deficits by Design?

From LouisvilleTeaParty.org

"NIGHTFALL IN AMERICA

(This analysis offered by ex-governor of Delaware, Pete du Pont)

Earlier this month, the Wall Street Journal’s editorial page did an analysis of the federal government’s debt that will be held by the public over the coming decade:

  • When the Democrats took control of Congress in 2007, the debt held by the public was 36.2 percent of gross domestic product.
  • It rose to 40.2 percent the next year.
  • This year it will be about 63.6 percent, next year 68.6 percent, then 77 percent of GDP in 2020.
  • And the Obama administration’s budget estimates 218 percent in 2050.

The reason for these rising deficits is the huge increases in federal spending — the intended growth of the federal government — that Congress and the president are pushing, says du Pont:....." read more LouisvilleTeaParty.org

The Savaging of Paul Ryan

Savaging of Paul Ryan- FrontPageMagazine Vasko Kohlmayer:

"Paul Ryan’s Roadmap bucks this trend and seeks to reverse our disastrous course with a series of commonsense measures. Here are some of the plan’s highlights:
  • Allowing those under 55 to invest over one-third of their current Social Security taxes into personal retirement accounts, similar to the Thrift Savings Plan available to federal employees;
  • Placing future Medicare beneficiaries (those currently under 55) into a semi-private programs similar to those currently used by Members of Congress;
  • Reducing the tax code into two rates: 10% on income up to $100,000 for joint filers and $50,000 for single filers, and 25% on taxable income above these amounts;
  • Eliminating the alternative minimum and the death tax;
  • Doing away with taxes on interest, capital gains and dividends;
  • Replacing the corporate tax—currently the second highest in the industrialized world—with a business consumption tax of 8.5%;
  • Imposing a 10 year discretionary spending freeze....." Front Page Magazine

Trey Grayson launches radio ad

Trey Grayson launches Radio ad

from : Bluegrass Politics

"Republican Trey Grayson’s campaign for the U.S. Senate has launched its first radio ad.

The one-minute spot strikes a positive tone and stresses Grayson’s efforts to reduce government spending as Kentucky’s Secretary of State since 2003.

“I’m running for Senate to stop the wasteful spending and keep our country safe from the terrorists who want to kill us,” Grayson declares.

Grayson does not mention his key opponent in the primary, Bowling Green eye surgeon Rand Paul, who launched his first TV ad of the race last week. That spot focused on national security issues.

Grayson’s campaign manager, Nate Hodson, said the ad started Monday on “statewide conservative radio.” He declined to elaborate or to say how long will it air and its costs...." Bluegrass Politics
