Harry Reid Said Coal Makes us Sick?
"In a Fox Business interview, Senator Reid claimed “coal makes us sick.” Coal is Kentucky’s most abundant resource and a piece of the puzzle to solving our nation’s energy crisis. I would invite you to sign Republican Leader Mitch McConnell’s energy petition and help him send a message to his colleague Harry Reid that we support coal-to-liquid technologies and common sense solutions to lowering gas prices. Empty rhetoric is not helping lower the price of gas or reduce our dependency on Middle Eastern oil. Congress must take action to increase domestic energy exploration and production......" from Geoff Davis Blog

Pro-Lifers Demand Parties Refuse Planned Parenthood Funding
"Democratic and Republican candidates must reject donations from Planned Parenthood this election year, and Congress should end all federal funding for the abortion provider, according to black pro-life leaders who held two press conferences last week in Washington, D.C., at Democratic and Republican Party Committee headquarters. The Planned Parenthood Federation of America is expected to spend $10 million this year on voter mobilization, according to The Los Angeles Times, and its political action committee has donated $60,000 to federal-office candidates so far this year. Planned Parenthood receives a little over $300 million in government grants and contracts, according to its latest annual report, and its political action fund voted in June "to recommend endorsement of Senator Obama" for president. Bruce Lunsford’s campaign accepts money spent on its behalf by the oil and gas industry
from TeamMitch
"Bruce Lunsford’s hypocrisy knows no bounds. Bruce Lunsford attacks Mitch McConnell for taking campaign contributions from the oil and gas industry while accepting DSCC campaign expenditures funded by the oil and gas industry. He attacks oil companies and Wall Street for driving up the price of gas, yet has invested millions in oil and gas companies and speculation. ...." from TeamMitch Blog

McCain in Louisville KY fundraiser
"Sen. John McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee for president, used a $2 million fundraiser in Louisville yesterday to criticize his Democratic opponent, saying that Sen. Barack Obama's "words may not be trusted."
More than 650 people paid between $1,000 and $12,300 to attend the event at the Kentucky International Convention Center, one of the most lucrative political fundraisers in Kentucky's history.
McCain said that Obama had not agreed to participate in a series of town-hall meetings that McCain has proposed, and has only recently said he would travel to Iraq. McCain also panned Obama's plan to withdraw troops from Iraq.
But he saved his harshest criticism for Obama's initial promise to limit his fundraising and take public financing for his campaign, and then last week announcing that he would opt out of the public financing system......" McCain raises $2million in Louisville, KY

New Senate Poll Shows McConnell Up
New Senate Poll Shows McConell Up
"The Rasmusson
poll continues to lurch along, this time towards Senate Republican Leader
Mitch McConnell. The poll shows McConnell up by seven points (48-41) over
perennial candidate Bruce Lunsford.Last month, Rasmusson asserted that McConnell
was down by five points. It's hard to believe a poll that swings twelve points
for no apparent reason.McConnell's favorable rating, according to the poll, is
56 percent (40 percent unfavorable). Lunsford is viewed favorably by only 43
percent (46 percent negative)...." from Elephants in the Bluegrass

Sen McConnell $100,000 cars not a solution
"Senator Mitch McConnell believes that along with conservation and the development of new technologies, part of any serious long-term solution to our energy crisis must include increased domestic energy exploration and production. The way to lower energy prices is to increase our supply of energy. By opening areas to exploration and production that are currently off-limits including wilderness and off-shore areas, we can create American jobs and reduce our dependence on foreign oil...."
